We administer estates

- even the most challenging cases

Administering an estate is difficult, stressful and risky at the best of times. We can help.

Experienced, Expert Servce

We have administered dozens of estates, from very simple to the most complex cases.  We are here to help you, not to drag things out.  We can handle complex and difficult issues, and provide regular reporting.

Fixed, fair fees paid from the estate

Our “no mystery, no surprises” pricing gives you peace of mind.  Usually, we charge fixed percentages of the value of the estate (not hourly fees) paid only when administration is completed.  This ensures we are very motivated to get things done efficiently and promptly.  Usually, we cover all costs and do not require a deposit from anyone.

We administer challenging estates even in the midst of disputes

We are usually asked to help deal with hard cases.  We often assist i) when there is no one in the family who wants or is suitable to take on the task, ii) when there is no one resident in Ontario who can act, iii) the estate owns a private business or complex investments or iv) when there is a dispute – with or without litigation.  We do not mind taking on challenges, and provide everyone with piece of mind that a qualified independent and experienced third party is handling the estate properly.

1. Tell us the details

Use one of our simple forms to provide us information about the estate and the affairs of the deceased.  We will need to see as much key documentation as soon as possible.

2. Our engagement letter

We discuss the situation with you and then provide you with a letter that summarizes our understanding of the estate, and what we will charge.

3. You decide

You review our letter, ask questions if you have them, and tell us to proceed.

4. We administer the estate

We get moving as quickly as possible.  We start with a probate application to get appointed as the estate trustee.  Once that is granted, we gather the assets, pay the bills, and file tax returns.  We try, where possible, to make substantial interim distributions fairly early, so that you do not have to wait unduly long to receive your inheritance.
